Economy

Overview
• The Namibian economy is dependent on the extraction and processing of minerals for export. The mining sector accounts for 20% of GDP. Although the per capita GDP is five times the per capita GDP of Africa's poorest countries, the majority of Namibians live in pronounced poverty due to large-scale unemployment and inequality of income distribution. The Namibian economy is closely linked with the South African.
